This handsome antique mechanical doorbell bears its patent date of July 2, 1872 on the bottom of the cast iron base. The bell is by Sargent, and the cast iron cover bears a wonderful aesthetic compass rose design - note the different details in each of the 16 sections.
The antique cast bronze pull was made by Russell & Erwin around 1887. It is a wonderful example of the Victorian period, with swirls, flowers and geometric patterns uniting to create a beautiful period piece. The bronze has developed a very rich patina.
These pieces are in excellent aesthetic and working condition, and we stand at the ready for any installation questions you may have.
Bell base measures 3 3/4" diameter (4 1/4" on center). Pull measures 2" wide by 4 1/4"tall. This bell will accomodate a door up to 2 1/2" thick.
